Josh Grinker

Chef/Owner, Kings Co Imperial

Chefs Josh Grinker and Tracy Young made their love of the cuisine their life by opening Kings County Imperial in 2015, which Robert Sietsema called “a new definition of Chinese-American cooking.”

The two met in Vermont, cooking at a Chinese restaurant called A Single Pebble. Following a stint with a more French concept in Park Slope, the team—who have been friends for over 20 years and have a natural rapport that makes many mistake them for a couple—came to Williamsburg.

They now have 2 locations (Williamsburg, LES) as they continue to expand their mark and bringing even more New Yorkers closer to their love for delicious Chinese cuisine.

About The Business

Kings Co Imperial

168 1/2 Delancey St, New York, NY 10002

Having traveled extensively throughout China, including a recent trip to Central China last year, the culinary duo behind the Park Slope institution, Stone Park Cafe, have channeled their knowledge and love of Chinese cuisine and culture to create Kings County Imperial.

The 65-seat restaurant features a menu of reinterpreted Central Chinese classics using market-fresh ingredients, many of which are grown in the restaurant’s on-site heirloom Chinese vegetable garden.

An integral ingredient in Chinese cuisine, the restaurant also features small batch, hand-crafted soy sauce. The sauce, served via tap at the bar, is made exclusively for the restaurant by their partner company Kings Co Soy Works in Brooklyn.
