A Restaurant We Know You Want to Put on Your Radar: Khiladi

We know the struggle of leaving any room with air conditioning this time of year. But a few new restaurants opened recently that we just had to share. Because sometimes a meat sweat is worth breaking an actual sweat after all.

Lighting up your Insta feed is one of a thousand reasons to dine out these days, which is why we’re excited to share a first look at Khiladi’s colorful menu. Owner Sruthi (Ramya) Chowdary’s childhood memories of favorite foods are reimagined at this East Village spot. The resulting menu has an array of dishes we think are ideal for a fun night out, especially when hosting out of town guests. In addition to dosas and familiar Indian dishes like chicken tikka and tiger prawns, there are some game changers on this menu you’re not likely to find anywhere else. And what are those game changers? Why nuggets of course! Steamed lentil cakes spiced up with cumin, coriander, and curry make up Khiladi’s Indy nugget starter, while an Indian chili dog and Andrha munchkins make for a modern example of Indian inspired cuisine. Desserts include vermicelli pudding and mango mousse, while drinks include a selection of Indian colas and lassis. It doesn’t look like there’s a liquor license just yet, so we think it best to BYOB for now. Khiladi is open Monday through Thursday from 11 am through 10:30 pm and up until 12 am on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The restaurant is located at 175 Avenue B, on the corner of 11th street, and reservations can be made by contacting the restaurant directly or via Resy.
