Weekend Vibes: Kick Off 2020 At These Events

If you plan to be productive this year, and being productive can absolutely mean eating pizza while binge watching The Mandalorian, we’re on the same page. As we begin the dawning of a new decade here at Leisurely, the one of a kind experiences we’ve been offering are only going to get better. So while we’re working on that, here’s a few spots we think are worth checking out, especially if you’re already over your new gym membership.

Bar Car Nights, New York Botanical Garden, 2900 Southern Avenue, Bronx, Friday and Saturday

Most holiday themed shows are geared towards families. Bar Car Nights is not this kind of event because it has spiked hot chocolate, ice carvings, dueling piano singalongs, and DJ sets. Guests can and should also enjoy food from the neighboring Bronx Night Market before catching an after dark version of the Holiday Train show, which sounds naughty but really it’s just a show featuring model trains. Although you can spice it up by requesting the DJ play Come on Ride the Train if you’re so inclined. Reserve tickets here.

The Exceptional Festival 2020, The Brick, 579 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn, Friday through February

At Leisurely, we’re all about discovering the artistic side of things. That’s why opening weekend of The Exceptional Festival is something we feel like sharing. This festival is dedicated to emerging performance artists, you know the kind that really need eyes on their talents in order to spread the word out there, and we honestly don’t know what’s in store this year. But expect cool artistic stuff you can’t get in museums. The festival will run through February, and more information as well as tickets can be found here.

Holy Globes Watch Party, Caveat, 21 A Clinton Street, Manhattan, Sunday

If you don’t know by now, the Golden Globes is basically a drunk version of The Oscars where Hollywood actually finds a way to let loose. That’s why we’re endorsing one of the few TV shows that are worth leaving your couch for, especially when the entertainment for the evening includes live performances and a drinking game to coincide with a livestream of the award show. Score a seat here.

And remember folks:
