Weekend Vibes: The Halloween Party Edition

One the greatest achievements we have as humans is the ability to come together and pull off parades. We get to wear costumes, dance to music, build floats, and demonstrate we are an organized pack of creatures that can get along with one another when we put our minds to it. And in our opinion, the 46th annual Village Halloween Parade is the heart of civilization. Except for Michael Scott, who will always be a fan of Times Square, even though his beloved Sbarro just closed. For everyone else, here’s a look at how you might want to enjoy the next few days, which may or may not include looking at mugshots of people who were arrested in costume for this writer.

A ScaryTale in Brooklyn, Sundays in Brooklyn, 348 Wythe Ave, Brooklyn, Thursday

Sundays in Brooklyn is a restaurant you can and should visit everyday. Get the malted pancakes with hazelnut syrup for brunch. Also, it’s gorgeous and feels like you’ve been transported to a rustic barn, which means it’s an awesome place for a lit Halloween party. Three cocktails per person, bites, tattooing, and late night delivery from Domino’s are all included too. Tickets are available via Resy here.

Ramona X Gertie’s: A Bloody Good Night, Gertie, 357 Grand Street, Brooklyn, Thursday

What kind of fruit does a vampire eat? A blood orange of course! That’s why one of Leisurely’s preferred canned wines, Ramona founded by Jordan Salcito of Momofuku’s James Beard winning wine list fame, is releasing its blood orange canned wine on Halloween. Tickets start at $5 and include a can of Ramona, with pastries from Gertie’s Nick Sanchez available for purchase too; reserve a spot here.

Public Markets Festival, Pier 17, 89 South Street, Sunday

New York City has an amazing history of public markets, and we should all take a moment to celebrate that history this Sunday by heading down to the seaport. If you make it there, you’ll be able to sample all the food and drink. It’s a free event and vendors like Sweet Carolina Pie, Port Morris Distillery, and Porto Rico Importing Company will be in attendance.

And if you’re not a fan of big crowds but love getting into the holiday spirit while dishing out candy, we suggest playing Werewolf Bar Mitzvah on repeat. Happy Halloween everyone!
