Restaurants We Know You Want to Put on Your Radar: ASSET

We think the Upper West Side of Manhattan is an underrated place to spend your free time, with the American Museum of Natural History and Central Park offering plenty of activities to work up an appetite. But since it’s too cold to have a picnic in the park, and you can do better than the museum’s food court, we’re suggesting the brand new restaurant ASSET featuring the work of Executive Chef John Schafer as a place you should consider reserving a TABLE.

Focused on American cuisine, highlights from the menu include wagyu pigs in a blanket with ale mustard, pastas, and skirt steak frites. There’s also a burger that comes with two patties, cheddar, and grilled onions which we’re salivating over. The menu is broken down into appetizers, pastas, grilled meats, and entrees, with a few shareable plates like a seafood platter and antipasto board ideal for groups; the full menu can be viewed here.

To drink, Beverage Director Brandon Lester, in collaboration with cocktail educators Liquor Lab, offer updates on classic drinks. There’s an espresso martini along with a drink called the Burn Baby Burn, a bourbon and whiskey cocktail thats been served in a glass smoked with fire. Wines are available by the glass and bottle and feature varietals from around the globe, with craft beer available on tap and by can.

The restaurant is also planning to offer music every night and during Sunday brunch via a rotating selection of DJ’s. Here’s a look at some of the drinks you might want to order just in time before the beat drops.
